Celebrate Jamaa ‘Family’ Day with family and friends this July 22 at Berkeley Flea Market. Jamaa, a Swahili word for “Family”, is the spirit of this event that brings to celebrate the culture and importance of family in not just our household but community. Bringing back awareness to family and promoting unity is what this event is about.
Our event will feature our regular and new vendors from around the Bay and beyond. hop a variety of items including unique and handmade items, rare finds, books, jewelry, apparel, and many more from individual vendors. Bring the family to enjoy the atmosphere.
We will have plenty of vendors and shoppers on this day, but we are also excited to add some new, exciting, and great tasting food vendors. With foods and drinks like coffees and pastries to belly satisfying meals like BBQ and vegan options, there’s bound to be something for everyone!
Our headliner for this event are the one and only ‘Curtis Family C-Notes’. They will be performing from 2pm to 3pm with some fantastic hits of theirs.
A highly talented family of seven composed of mother, father, (Mama C and Papa C) and five Children (Zahara, Nile, Isis, Kiki, & Phoenix). Enjoy a beautiful display of multi-instrumentalists, vocalists, dancers, composers, producers, and most importantly, family!
The Curtis Family are also community activists who focus on helping seniors, the youth, and the homeless. The Curtis Family C-Notes have performed for the Golden State Warriors, the San Francisco Giants, America’s Got Talent and for dignitaries from around the world. The Curtis Family has the distinction of being named The San Francisco/Bay Area First Family of Song, in California. The band was sought out by one of the biggest retail giants in the country, JCPenney, to make a 2021 Christmas Holiday commercial which aired for weeks, both nationally and internationally.
